Is there a college student in your life?

Is there a college student in your life?

by Sarah Andrus | Sep 7, 2022 | Career, Career Advice, Career Coach, Career Counseling, Interviews, Networking, Planning | 0 comments

Do you have a college student going to school right now? Maybe you’ve already done the dorm good-bye, holding back tears (or just letting them flow like me to assure maximum embarrassment!) and realizing nobody warned you how hard this would be. I’ve been there and I...

Getting Comfortable Again

by Sarah Andrus | Jun 1, 2021 | Fear, Planning, Professionalism, Resilience, Work | 0 comments

Yesterday I attended my first large event since last March. It was lovely – hundreds of people on the lawns of our local art museum enjoying a beautiful evening of music, good food and drink, and company. I saw a dear friend I hadn’t seen in over 2 years across...

Do ONE THING To Make 2019 Your Best Year Yet

by Sarah Andrus | Dec 21, 2018 | Career, Career Advice, Making A Difference, Planning, Success | 0 comments

Yes, just one thing can make the difference. And, a few small things can be transformative. When I started this business back in 2014, I uncovered something that had been right under my nose. But, because I had been head-down, sleeves up and working nearly 24/7...

Attitude Is Everything, Especially In A Job Search

by Sarah Andrus | Jul 9, 2017 | Blog, Career, Change, Communication, Job Search, Planning, Professionalism, Resilience, Success, Testimonial, Work | 0 comments

One of the first things I try to gauge when working with a new client is their attitude. How do they feel going into active job search mode? Do they have a positive attitude?  Or, could a negative attitude put their goals at risk? “So, how did it go?” I texted when I...

Funny enough, I found my way to Sarah by way of her TED Talk. Once I learned she had her own coaching business, I knew I wanted to speak with her. When we first met, I was lost on my career journey, stalled in my current job search, and skeptical about the whole coaching thing. From the first conversation though, I knew Sarah was not only capable, but likely the person best suited to get me back on track and into a job that was right for me.  The Birkman was very interesting to me, and one of the reasons I was excited to work with Sarah. As a Certified Birkman Coach, Sarah was able to help me better understand the test and what my results actually meant for me. My results gave me clear and concise words to describe myself, and shed light on needs and work behaviors I was never aware of. It was also very helpful when it came time for interviewing! Through the months I worked with Sarah, I put my trust in her and her process. At times I was skeptical and uncomfortable, but Sarah was always there to ease my worries. From the coach to the counselor to the cheerleader, Sarah was able to become whatever I needed in that moment. When I finally received an offer for my ideal role, the best part was telling Sarah and having her genuinely share in my joy. Without Sarah and her wealth of knowledge, I would not be where I am today and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her.

I couldn’t have done this without you! Thank you so much for your advice and guidance at such a critical time in my life! The opportunity is with BMO Harris in digital marketing. The salary is near six figures and there is room for growth!

My mom told me about Sarah, as she has helped a few people in my family find jobs. I started applying to jobs a few weeks after graduating from college, and noticed I was getting a lot of automatic rejects. I began to worry about everything for my future career - where I wanted to end up, what exactly I wanted to do, how much I could be paid. This is where Sarah became invaluable. I had my own vision, and Sarah helped me chase it. From networking, to interviewing, and the after-interview anxiety, she was always there to support me.

I had never used a career coach before, and wasn’t really sure what they did. Sarah’s warm personality and compassionate approach made it easy to trust her right away and I re-discovered several things about myself that I had lost over 15 years of working for the same company. Sarah approach helped me clarify my skills and my interests which put me on a completely different career path. I felt back on my feet again and full of confidence to start the next chapter of my career. I currently split my time between academic research and being the owner of a small chemical consulting business. I’m happier than I’ve been in at least a decade, and I owe a large debt to Sarah for helping me navigate through this time of disequilibrium.

Working with Sarah Andrus is like working with a swiss army knife of career coaching. She has many tools and resources to offer. Ultimately, she helped me figure out what it is that I really wanted from my career and then gave me tools, hints and tricks on how to go out and get it. Along with that process I also received her unwavering support. I really enjoyed her professionalism, her quick thinking and her ability to relate to me on many different levels. I would highly recommend working with her because she brings a level of focus to your career search that is top notch. I am glad I made the choice to work with her.
