Resigning can cause all sorts of feelings of dread and fear. It’s understandable because when we resign, we are breaking an implied commitment.

But are we really? Or does it just FEEL that way?

No matter the friendships and your loyalty, you did not promise that you would work there forever, did you?

You didn’t make any commitment to stay:

❌ Even after you stopped learning and growing
❌ Despite being undervalued and underpaid
❌ If they are short-staffed and leaving will mean more work for others
❌ When an opportunity that was a better fit presented itself

And here’s the thing: You can resign gracefully and respectfully and people may still be upset. That does not mean that you do anything wrong. Really.
