Seriously. What. The. !@#$.

Not the way I typically open a message to you, I know.

I don’t know about you, but I already want a “do over” on our start to 2021.

A pandemic that continues to keep us away from our friends and loved ones, and the activities that bring us joy…

The loss of jobs – our own, or those of people we love and rely on…

The news of insurrection and erosion of trust on state and federal levels that makes us worried about our children’s future…

Here’s what’s going through my mind: None of us works in a vacuum. And, as much as I’d love to channel my inner Wonder Woman, I have my limits and I’ve hit them – more than once – over the last week or so.

No matter how focused I am, I find these external issues taking up my mental space, and there is precious little room left for all of those good intentions and to-dos I swore I would get to in the new year.

I don’t think I’m alone.

So… What to do? One thing that has always helped me is the idea of PICK ONE THING. That’s it. Pick one thing to do, and do just that. The action itself brings its own energy, and makes me feel just a bit more in control.

There is so much outside of our control right now – but I’m pretty sure there is one thing, even a small step, that could move you in the right direction and make you feel good. Do that.

Cheers to Your Career!
